Work Entitlement for Students:
International students enrolled in full-time courses recognized by Ireland’s Department of Education can work up to 20 hours per week during the academic term and up to 40 hours per week during holidays (June to September and from mid-December to mid-January).
Part-time Jobs:

Finding a job in Ireland as a student-visa holder can be an exciting opportunity. Here are some steps to help you in your job search:
1. Understand your visa restrictions: There are certain restrictions on the number of hours students can work per week. In Ireland, students will be allowed to take up casual employment of up to 20 hours part-time work per week in term time or up to 40 hours per week during the vacation periods stated in the Irish calendar, which is from June to September, inclusive, and from 15th December to 15th January. Familiarise yourself with these restrictions and ensure that any job you seek is within those limits.
2. Network: Networking is crucial for finding job opportunities. Attend career events, industry meet-ups, and conferences related to your field of interest. Connect with professionals on platforms like LinkedIn and reach out to them for informational interviews or advice.
It is also important that you communicate with colleagues in your school and roommates, as they may have something to recommend to you. Networking can often lead to hidden job opportunities.
3. Online job portals: Utilise online job portals and websites dedicated to job searches in Ireland, such as Indeed.ie, IrishJobs.ie, or Jobs.ie. These platforms allow you to filter job listings based on location, industry, and other preferences. Upload your CV and apply

It is also common to apply within the stores, so it is highly recommended that you walk along the town and drop your CV in the businesses that you consider a good opportunity.

7. Polish your CV/resume and interview skills: Prepare a well-written CV or resume that highlights your skills, education, and any relevant work experience. Prepare for job interviews by researching common interview questions, practising your responses, and learning about the company you’re applying to. In Ireland, the PPS (Personal Public Service) number is a unique identifier issued to individuals for their interactions with public service agencies. It is similar to a Social Security number in other countries.
The PPS number is used for various purposes, including taxation, social welfare benefits, healthcare, and employment.
The PPS number is issued by the Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection (DEASP). It consists of seven digits followed by either one or two letters. The number is unique to each individual and remains the same throughout their lifetime.
Basically, students need a PPS number in order to formally work in the country and be able to pay for their taxes regularly. It is common that companies ask for someone’s PPS number when doing an interview.
To obtain a PPS Number in Ireland, students need to follow the steps:
1. Create an User in https://www.mygovid.ie;
2. Login at MyWelfare.ie using your GovID User;
3. Look for the option to apply for a PPS Number;
4. Follow the steps in the website;
Students need to choose the reason why they need a PPS Number. Students should choose the option stating that they have started a job in the country.
5. Upload the required documentation:
· Passport;
. Proof of Address;
. Proof of the reason they informed (In this case, it can be proved by a letter issued by their employer confirming their employment details; or an employment contract);
6. After submitting the documents, students need to check the notifications along the days to see if any supporting document is required;
7. If new documents are not requested, students just need to wait between 2-4 weeks and a letter with the PPS number is sent via post;
8. There may be a possibility that students need to go in person to the office to finalise the process. In this case, an email will be sent with the appointment details and students must bring all original documents for a face to face analysis.
